It is Scotland's cultural capital and
one of the most dynamic cities in Europe: steeped in culture, rich
in history, with elegant streets, squares, parks and gardens.
What's more, it's one of the UK's finest Victorian cities with
magnificent architecture everywhere you look.

Glasgow is a real conference city, with a friendly welcome for
visitors
Glasgow is home to Scottish Opera and Scottish Ballet. It has
one of Europe's finest civic art collections in galleries such as
the Kelvingrove Museum and Art Gallery and the Burrell Collection
and entry into all 27 of the city's galleries is free.
Delegates will love Glasgow, the friendliness of the people, the
quality of the shops, the numerous high quality restaurants, bars
and clubs. Scotland has some of the world's most breathtaking
scenery; much of it is on Glasgow's doorstep. And of
course some of the world's finest golf courses are just a
short drive away.
'Let Glasgow Flourish' proclaims the
city's coat of arms - and it does. Glasgow is growing. Over the
past ten years the number of jobs in the city has gone up by 20%.
That's twice the rate of the rest of Scotland. A great deal of the
increase has been in the International Financial Services District,
which has attracted international companies such as JP Morgan and
Morgan Stanley, as well as home grown financial firms like Direct
Line, the Royal Bank of Scotland and HBOS.
On top of financial and business
services, buoyant sectors include the creative industries,
health, education, retail, and tourism (leisure, business and
hospitality). Glasgow is also Scotland's media centre, home to the
country's main broadcasters and newspaper groups.
You can benefit from the partnership
that's helped drive the city's rapid development. One of the unique
selling points of the SECC is our active role in what could be
described as 'Team Glasgow'. This is a coalition of the main
organisations in the city who work closely together in a way that
benefits our clients. For SECC customers this means having access
to a wide range of added value services, from civic receptions to
travel passes for delegates.
TRACK RECORD OF HOSTING MAJOR CONFERENCES AND
EVENTS
Glasgow is firmly established as an experienced and
popular centre for conferences and international events such as the
UEFA Cup Final, Celtic Connections - the World's largest celtic
music festival and will be host of the Commonwealth Games in 2014.
Over 23,500 international delegates visited the city last year with
several major conferences receiving a significant increase in
delegate numbers in Glasgow compared to the previous year, and in
some cases, record breaking numbers.
